About the Guest:
Dr. Wuori is an esteemed writer, public speaker, and advisor to the nation’s governors, state lawmakers, and other senior elected and administrative officials. He is the Founder and President of Early Childhood Policy Solutions, a consultancy dedicated to public policy for children and families, and serves as a Strategic Advisor on Early Childhood at the Saul Zaentz Charitable Foundation.
Since joining The Hunt Institute as its founding Director of Early Learning in January 2019, Dr. Wuori advanced to Senior Director, where he served from February 2021 to November 2023. During this time, he contributed to securing over $10 million in philanthropic and service-based funding for the Institute.
Previously, Dr. Wuori worked as a kindergarten teacher and school district administrator and served as Deputy Director of South Carolina First Steps to School Readiness from 2005 to 2018. In this role, he collaborated with elected officials to build bipartisan support for early childhood education and led innovative initiatives such as expanding public pre-kindergarten in diverse community settings, enhancing the state’s IDEA Part C early intervention system, implementing statewide accountability standards, and broadening access to evidence-based home visiting programs.
He resides in Columbia, South Carolina, with his wife and their young adult children.
